Job Overview
Cambuslang based kids club are looking to recruit a Housekeeper to work Monday to Friday 1pm-5pm.
The Housekeeper will work as an effective member of the team supporting the Management Team (MT) and Senior Childcare Practitioner (SCP).
The purpose of the job is to support and maintain a well-organised, safe and stimulating environment which will meet the needs of children and their families. This will be in accordance with the policies, quality assurance guidelines and codes of practice adopted by the kids club.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Tasks
Leadership and Teamwork
- Work with the MT and SCP to ensure a clean, hygienic and safe environment within the establishment for all service users, staff and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with MT and SCP to ensure understanding of responsibilities on a day-to-day basis, carrying out duties in a professional and effective manner.
- Support MT and SCP to develop and maintain cleaning schedules, checklists, and guidance that will ensure high standards are met and maintained.
Carry out Cleaning Duties to a high standard in an organised and efficient manner.
- Cleaning, dusting, polishing furniture and fixtures.
- Cleaning playrooms, kitchen, toilets, office and communal areas to meet standards, guidelines and legislation.
- Vacuuming and cleaning carpets, sweeping and mopping floors.
- Assisting childcare staff in the laundry requirements.
- Using cleaning equipment and materials in accordance with all policies, procedures and guidance.
- Keep toilets, playrooms and other areas stocked with resources including PPE to maintain day-to-day cleaning.
- Emptying bins and waste materials in accordance with guidance and legislation.
Reporting faults, required repairs, Health and Safety issues.
- Advise MT of shopping requirements and maintain stock rotation of food in accordance with guidance and legislation.
- Ensure that food/liquids are stored in accordance with guidance and legislation.
- Prepare for snack and lunch provision according to policies, procedures, guidance and legislation.
- Receive and serve food in line with policies, procedures and legislation.
- Ensure that appropriate uniforms and PPE are worn for all tasks.
- Contribute to the evaluation of the service. Adhere to action plans to improve the service.
- Record and maintain all record in accordance with policies, procedures, guidance and legislation.
Professional Learning and Development
- Contribute to support and supervision meetings in consultation with SCP and MT. Engage in annual formal staff review and mutually agree an action plan for the year ahead.
- Take responsibility for your own personal learning and participate in training and personal development opportunities as agreed with Management Team, ensuring continuous professional development in line with the needs of your roles and responsibilities.
Professional Knowledge and understanding in relation to Health and Safety.
- Update knowledge and skills and ensure your practice maintains a safe hygienic environment for all service users, staff and visitors.
- Ensure that all foods/snacks are prepared and served in accordance with appropriate food hygiene guidelines, cultural and medical dietary requirements and adhered to at all times.
- To complete and review risk assessments as appropriate to ensure the safe running of the establishment.
General Administration
- Ensure that record keeping is accurate and recorded in an appropriate manner.
- Ensure that records are completed accurately and are always up to date and available to the management team or to professional bodies.
- Ensure that all information is stored and shared in line with UKK confidentiality policy and legal obligations within GDPR.
Employer Expectations Skills/Knowledge/Experience etc
- Ensure a courteous and approachable manner is displayed at all times.
- Ensure that uniforms and PPE are clean and appropriate to all tasks.
- Preferably the applicant will have experience of serving food, COSH and hygiene practice.
